Contra dancing is the North American equivalent of ceilidh. It’s fast-paced, sociable and highly addictive. Caller Charlotte Rich-Griffin will be walking us through the basic contra moves for the first half hour of this dance, then selecting and calling some fantastic dances. Non-gendered calls will be used.

Music is from the fiddle and guitar duo Chaotic Good. Expect excellent, high-energy contra music from musicians who’ve played everywhere from folk clubs to festivals for the last decade. They are Adam Rich-Griffin (The Night Before, Contrasaurus) on guitar, and Nicky McConkey (The Night Before, Minor Contravention) playing fiddle. They play a wide range of amazing tunes that are just great to dance to!

Doors 1:45pm, dancing from 2-2:30 contra basics session dance 2:30-5pm.

There is a licensed bar with real ale, cider, wine and soft drinks.
